Wednesday 17 July 2024 Young V&A Design Club Our KS3 Design and Technology students at Oaklands School participated in a 12-week after-school club based at the Young V&A. The eleven students took part in three exciting creative workshops: foiling, block printing, and suminagashi (floating ink), as well as visiting the Japan exhibition for inspiration. They collaboratively worked with creatives and designers as well as buyers for the V&A.

Monday 15 July 2024 Art Award Well done to one of our Year 11 students, Sumaiya, who was invited to the Painter Stainers Awards for her contemporary version of Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh.

Tuesday 4 June 2024 Greenhouse Sports Trip On Wednesday 29th May, our Table Tennis coach took a selected few students on an enrichment trip to Singer Capital Markets. Here, students had a stock market lesson and took part in an activity with Gareth Henderson (Head of Trading).

Thursday 23 May 2024 The Brilliant Club 2024 This spring and summer term, twelve Oaklands students in year 8 took part in the Brilliant Club programme. This is the fifth year that we have taken part as a school.

Monday 20 May 2024 WordTheatre Visit WordTheatre (https://wordtheatre.org/), founded by Cedering Fox and Kirsty Peart, is an LA-based charity that Oaklands has worked with many times over the years. The charity brings out international TV and Film actors to their school visits to work with young people by reading aloud short stories and poems to help bring literature to life.

Tuesday 29 August 2023 OAKLANDS ALUMNI Oaklands School Alumni came to speak to current year 12 students during their Personal Development session. The students heard about all the amazing things our students have been doing since leaving Oaklands, and they gave personal advice and guidance about next steps, be it apprenticeships, work or university.

Monday 10 July 2023 Year 8 Mandarin trip 2023 Well done to all of our Year 8 Mandarin students. On Thursday 6th July, they sat their YCT Level 1 Mandarin exam and so on Friday 7th July, they visited Chinatown on a well-deserved reward school trip.

Thursday 15 June 2023 Jack Petchey Awards On Monday 12th June, three students were invited to the Jack Petchey Awards to commemorate them on their achievements. The ceremony is designed to award young people who have gone above and beyond in academics, sports or achieved personal triumphs.
