Tuesday 8 September 2026 Greenhouse and CVC Employability Session at Oaklands During the summer holidays, Oaklands welcomed CVC Capital Partners, one of Greenhouse's valued partners, to Oaklands for a special employability session. Students took part in an afternoon of table tennis and basketball, led by professional coaches Mitch and Dean, combining sport, teamwork and personal development in a fun and engaging environment.

Wednesday 3 June 2026 Sixth Form Charity Bake Sale A huge well done to our Sixth Form students for their fantastic organisation and delivery of today's charity bake sale.Students and staff were treated to a wonderful selection of homemade sweet and savoury treats, with plenty of delicious options available throughout the event. The bake sale was a great success and showcased the enthusiasm, teamwork and dedication of our Sixth Formers in supporting a worthwhile cause.We would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who baked, volunteered, purchased items and supported the event. Every contribution helped to make a difference.We are delighted to announce that a total of £316.06 was raised for Human Aid & Advocacy, supporting the important work the charity undertakes to help those in need.Thank you once again to our Sixth Form students involved, the staff who supported and the wider school community for their generosity.

Tuesday 5 May 2026 Year 5 Basketball and Table Tennis Championship It has been a fantastic few weeks at Oaklands as we welcomed our local primary schools for a series of Year 5 basketball and table tennis sessions, finishing in a highly successful tournament.Throughout the programme, students demonstrated great enthusiasm, effort and sportsmanship, making the experience fun and rewarding for everyone involved. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all staff, coaches and students who contributed to the success of these sessions.We are especially grateful to Lawdale, Columbia and Virginia Primary Schools for their participation and commitment. It was a pleasure to host you, and we hope the students found the experience both enjoyable and inspiring.Congratulations to Columbia aswell on their wins!

Monday 16 March 2026 Parent Talk Webinar Oakland's has been working with Everyone's Invited, a sexual violence prevention charity that has delivered education in schools since 2022. Everyone's Invited has been working with six Tower Hamlets secondary schools over the course of this year, offering their prevention education sessions to Year 8 students. They are now offering a webinar for any parents or carers (including parents of primary school aged and younger children) interested in learning more about the online world that children are exposed to.

Friday 6 March 2026 Year 12 Mentoring Programme Launch The Year 12's had the opportunity to join the mentoring programme with Global Aerospace Underwriting Managers Ltd. Global Aerospace ensures top airlines internationally as well as satellite systems around the world. 10 of our Year 12 students visited the offices for Global Aerospace and met with current employees of the company ranging from senior executives to apprentices.

Tuesday 24 February 2026 East London Jack Petchey Table Tennis Individual Qualifier 2026 This February, sixteen Oaklands students proudly represented the school at the East London Jack Petchey Individual Qualifier. Oaklands entered the Under 13 Boys, Under 16 Boys, and Under 19 Boys categories with four students per event.

Monday 26 January 2026 English Schools London Team Finals 2026 The Under 13 boys' team was represented by Yaqub, Hadi, Mihranur, Riyadh, and Kayden. The team finished 4th in their group and took part in several highly competitive matches, including two closely contested fixtures.

Thursday 22 January 2026 Greenhouse Girls Development Day 2026 Five of our female students from Years 7 and 8 attended a girls-only table tennis development day by Greenhouse Sports at Crest Academy. The students participated in a Greenhouse-themed table tennis quiz and a range of engaging training drills. They also had the opportunity to ask questions and learn from former Portuguese international table tennis player Ana Neves, as well as Greenhouse Centre Manager Maria Ingles. It was an exciting day for our students as they got to play and learn more about the sport... Thank you to our coach for supporting the students involved in the trip!

Friday 12 December 2025 Art Competition Winner Congratulations to our Year 8 student Zi Chau Lau who won a honourable mention award for his Christmas card design! Out of over 900 entries submitted, Zi Chau's artwork truly stood out. His wonderfully crafted Christmas card earned him a special commendation along with a prize from the Salvation Army.
