Year 6 to 7 Transition

We look forward to welcoming students and parents who have already decided to join us at Oaklands in September 2024. Oaklands offer a series of transition events in summer term.

To those new to Oaklands, we hope the video above starring staff and students from our school community gives you a sense of our vision and values. The transition to secondary school is one of the most significant times in the life of a young person: here at Oaklands we place our values of kindness, community and inclusivity at the centre of our transition programme as well welcome new year 7s into our school community to begin their learning journey with us.

Oaklands Year 5 Masterclasses:

Once a year Oaklands hosts a series of masterclasses for Year 5 students from our neighbouring primary school, Lawdale.

Sessions include a variety of subjects to give Year 5's a taste of what secondary school learning is like.

Feedback from some Year 5 students include:

"It made me feel less nervous about secondary school. I can't wait to go now!"

"Science was so much fun. We did a cool experiment about alkaline and acid, using a cabbage!"

"DT was really fun. We used tools to carve wood and sand paper to smooth the edges and avoid getting splinters!"
